Help - I don't like shimmering fabrics!

I have received a gift from my niece who lives in Australia, it is a shimmering parka/raincoat for Spring. I can not wear it as it is and can not pay a fortune to ship it back.

Is there any way to get rid off the shine on it, or do something to give it a matte look, some how?

Light Silver in colour,
46% Cotton
46% Polyester
8% Metallic
