Headboard Fabric

I am currently building this headboard but having trouble finding a fabric for the headboard. I live in a very rural area with no fabric shops so i am looking at online retailers and having them send me swatches but still havent found anything I like. Does anyone have any idea what type of fabric this is? If not I am looking for something white (vinyl preferably) but I want something smooth (no bumps or lines). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I think any upholstery fabric will work. For online stores, most of the larger online stores allow you to order swatches on the web without calling them. They charge you a small fee but it's a good way to be sure before committing to a larger fabric order. Look for an "order swatches" button when ordering fabric online.

Have you looked at Fabric.com's upholstery fabric section?

If you're looking for simple, light colored, and fairly inexpensive, I spotted this vinyl beige fabric on sale at $4.98/yd (great price for upholstery fabric!). No idea on how it feels or looks in person, though.

Fabric.com also has a 30% off clearance (that's 30% on top of the marked down price) using the code CLEAR30 (good until Feb 1, but there's always new codes). It's a bit hit and miss what's in the clearance section, although every now and then I find some great deals on old favorites they are trying to clear out of inventory.
